Dr. Rajkumar has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Madras Christian College since 2014. Since then, he has been teaching and carrying out research in the Department of Chemistry. He finds that teaching in an institute of higher learning is the best platform to impart and learn knowledge and skills with students and scholars. He has been teaching core, elective and allied subjects for the UG, PG and M.Phil. programs. He has completed DST-SERB major research project “Ruthenium Based Dendrimers and their Patterns in Metalloprotein Sensing”. He has published over 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. The development of new organometallic & dendrimer molecules and understanding their structure, photophysical, and photochemical properties fascinates him and keeps him excited about pursuing research in that domain. Current area of research involves photophysics and photochemistry of organometallic complexes, Luminescent sensors, Biopolymers, Carbon dots, Biological Activities of Natural Products and Molecular docking.
