Seed Money Grant (SMG) for Faculty

Madras Christian College through the Deanery for Research and Development provides Seed Money Grant to the faculty members each academic year for carrying out microprojects, fostering scientific and social research in the institution, and encouraging faculty members to perform outcome-based research. The grant is being awarded the under the categories of Pool A (faculty with less than 5 years of experience in MCC) and Pool B (faculty with more than 5 years of experience in MCC) since 2021.

  • Project proposals shall be submitted as e-copy by the faculty members when called for by the Deanery R&D. The guidelines for submission, carrying out projects, and report submission should be followed as intimated by the Deanery during the Call.
  • Proposals that address local needs, have the potential for further research and/or are aligned with the driving principles of MCC shall be encouraged.
  • The duration of the project will be 6 months. The project investigator (PI) should ensure journal publication in UGC-CARE/SCOPUS/Web of Science indexed journals or filing a patent as an outcome of the project. 
  • For proposals that address local (campus) needs, the outcome can be a design model/ policy framework/product prototype etc., 

Principal Investigators (PI) of Micro-projects are expected to do a mid-term presentation after completion of 3 months, and a final presentation at the end of 6 months. The PIs shall also submit the report, utilization  certificate, and expenditure details and settle the bills, immediately after the duration of the project. Reports and research publications should duly acknowledge the Deanery, Research and Development, of MCC for the grant received. A copy of research publication, project report or any award received should be handed over to the Deanery (R & D) and IQAC unit of MCC for the purpose of documentation. Deanery (R & D) will facilitate and monitor the progress of the activities of the SMG projects.
