The Department of Computer Science was founded in 1993 to offer the MCA Programme, the first Self-financed course in the college under the pioneering leadership of Dr. (Mrs.). Rani Siromoney. The hallmark of the Department is its stable, qualified, experienced, and committed team of faculty members. The MCA syllabus emphasizes the fundamental principles of Computer Science and is updated regularly according to the needs of the industry, to enhance the immediate employability of the students. The department has a well-administered laboratory and a well-stocked library, with a successful track record of placement. With such an academic standing, the Department has educated and trained students consistently to high standards and nurtured them to have excellent social and technical skills to compete with their peers from the best institutions of higher education.
Admission to MCA is based on merit and without any capitation fee/donations from the time of inception till date. The course received the approval of the AICTE in the year 2000. The course content comprises of the foundational subjects of Computer Science, Programming languages and Elective subjects that are upgraded according to the emerging trends in IT which enhance the immediate employability of our students.
From the year 2009, the department has a collaborative staff-student research which has expanded the department’s impact not only in the IT industry but also into the area of research. The department has entered an International map by offering course to International students from 2017. Thus, the department is continuing to have sublime success by the grace of God and the continuous dedicated work of the staff and the students of the department.
