Biography

Ms. Kavitha has been teaching organic chemistry courses for UG & PG students, such as chemistry of natural products, organo oxygen chemistry and organo nitrogen Chemistry with a zest. Nevertheless she relished in doing application oriented courses like polymer chemistry, food & cosmetic chemistry, environmental chemistry, biological chemistry, & pharmaceutical chemistry.  She has served four educational institutions, before her induction into MCC in 2003 and her teaching profile now spans over 2 decades. Until now, she has actively participated in about 200 offline & online skill development programs, meant for faculty of higher education.  She is also recognised as a life member in professional bodies such as Association of Chemistry Teachers -TIFR, Mumbai & Society for Advancement of Chemical Sciences and Education, IGCAR, Kalpakkam. Her research interests lie in the realm of photo catalysis, degradation of organic dyes & PAHs and green practices in organic synthesis. She has few research articles to her credit that are published in peer-reviewed international journals of high repute. Her recent paper presented in an international virtual conference on ‘Current Scenario in Chemical Sciences’ [CSCS-2021] won the best oral presentation award. She has received 1st prize in the E-Poster competition on ‘Eco-friendly Environment and Sustainability’. She has been recognized as ‘Alumni Representative’ for the Board of Studies – Chemistry, by ‘Ethiraj College for Women’, Chennai.
