Biography

Dr. Bonofer’s main areas of research and teaching are International Relations, Foreign Policy, South Asia, Asia- Pacific, Human Rights, Refugees and Mixed Migration. Prior to joining MCC, he worked for over ten years in various positions including; Teaching Research Fellow, Department of Politics and Public Administration, University of Madras, and Researcher at Center for Asia Studies, the Chennai Chapter – Observer Research Foundation and Tribal Education and Development Society (TRENDS).

He recently published a book on Haksar on India’s Sri Lanka Policy. His edited works include Recent Developments in Myanmar- Implications for India; Refugee situation in India Today (sponsored by UNHCR); Rise of China: Implications for Asian Neighbours and Re-Evaluating US Foreign Policy towards Asia. His recent article on “Stateless among the Refugees: Tears of the Plantation Tamils in Refugee Camps in India” is part of “Handbook on Refugees” published by Routledge.
