Paul Wilson

Dr Paul Wilson assumed office as XVII Principal of Madras Christian College, Chennai in June 2020. He is a unique blend of researcher, academician, writer, trained musician and theologian. 

Education:

M.Sc 1991 (Loyola College, Chennai), Ph.D (Indian Institute Of Technology, Madras, 2002).

Post-Doctoral Research (Ben Gurion University of The Negev, Beersheva, Israel 2003).

Family:

Married to Jasmine, a musicologist, researcher and singer; daughter, Smrithi Wilson and son, Samuel Ashwin 

Career:

Served as faculty of Chemistry in various institutions of higher education. Joined the faculty of Chemistry at Madras Christian College in 2003. Assumed charge as Head of the Department of Chemistry in 2015. Served as Dean of Sciences, MCC from 2018 to 2020.

Professional Activities:

Principal investigator for Projects funded by UGC, DST –SERB and UBCHEA. Serving as reviewer for journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Wiley and American Chemical Society (ACS).

Life Member of the Catalysis Society of India; Life Member of the Association of Chemistry Teachers, India; Life Member of the Society for Advancement of Chemical Sciences and Education, IGCAR, Kalpakkam

Published more than 30 research articles in peer-reviewed journals of international repute.

Interests:

A contributory author to Education Times (Times Of India), Edex (The Indian Express) and Education Plus (The Hindu) on educating millennials. 

Published articles on South Indian classical music in Times Of India and Dinamani. 

Music critic, performer and composer; passionate towards designing project based cutting edge curricula in Chemical and also in Music Education
