Brief Bio

Dr. Lalbiaknii Hnamte is an educator and researcher in the field of psychology. Since joining the Department of Psychology, Madras Christian College in 2023, she has been teaching courses on Issues and Ethics of Helping Profession, Christian Studies, Counselling Psychology, Psychology of Leadership Psychological Testing, and Health Psychology. She is interested in research pertaining to the field of mental health and her doctoral thesis was related to substance use among school students. Her research interests center on mental health, with a particular focus on substance use among school students for her doctoral thesis. The doctoral thesis involved the development and validation of a screening tool specifically designed to identify substance use in this population. This screening instrument has been published and contributes to early detection and intervention efforts, addressing a critical need for accessible and reliable tools in educational and counselling settings. Her work highlights the multifaceted factors influencing substance use, such as peer dynamics, school
environment, and access to support systems. By integrating research findings into her teaching and advocacy, Dr. Lalbiaknii aims to contributes in the development of effective prevention and intervention strategies, aiming to promote healthier developmental pathways and support the mental health of young people
