David Wesley teaches courses on drama, theatre and performance particularly Shakespeare, Modern European Drama, and Classical Literature. He specializes in theatre and performance, particularly training students in theatrical skills and directing plays for the Department and the College. He conducts theatre workshops across colleges in Tamil Nadu and researches on Performance Studies. He has done a research project on the history of theatre in Madras Christian College. His research centres around theatre and performance and has also published on cricket studies.
He uses theatre as a pedagogical tool to teach literature, language, and life skills. In particular, his theatre focuses on adapting literary works for the stage thereby training students in reading, interpreting, and performing literature. His application of theatre in the classroom helps in enhancing the communication and leadership skills of the students.
