 Dr. N. Prabhu joined the Department of Chemistry as an Assistant Professor in June 2014. He received his doctoral degree in Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, (IIT-D)  New Delhi. He continued to work along with Prof. Jai Deo Singh (Ph.D. mentor) as a postdoctoral fellow for one year. He was introduced to the field of organo-chalcogen chemistry by Prof. Jai Deo Singh during his doctoral and postdoctoral stints at IIT Delhi. His main area of research work is on organic chalcogen supported Hg sensors, silver based Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF), biologically significant organometallic compounds, green synthesis of nanoparticles, synthesis of organo Sulfur & organo Selenium based nucleophiles, and designing of perspective respiratory drugs.

Recently he published research articles in New Journal of Chemistry (RSC), Polymer Composites (Wiley), and Journal of Molecular Structure (Elsevier).  He is teaching courses such as basic concepts in organic chemistry, organic reaction mechanisms, natural products, polymer chemistry, bioinorganic, medicinal, scientific research methodology and modern instrumental techniques to UG and PG students
