Biography

Christina Dhanasekaran is an Assistant Professor of English at Madras Christian College, Chennai. Credited with several National and International publications, she has presented over twenty-five papers during her ten years of teaching experience. Her areas of interest include Drama, Mythology, Ecocriticism, Cultural Theory, Media, Postmodernism, Posthumanism, and Popular Culture Studies. She believes in a multi-perspective approach towards literature across borders.  She has collated and edited various creative magazines and research journals for the department. She has been actively involved with the department’s literary forum and has led various literary and debating clubs. She is a passionate teacher who believes in the transformative powers of education. She did a small stint in primary education working as a ‘Teach For India Fellow’ placed in a low-income community school. This experience widened her understanding of the various lacunae in the educational sector. She strives to bridge these gaps by extending pedagogical practices outside the box breaking the traditional contours of the classroom. An ardent reader and lover of poetry, she loves scribbling free verses and exploring different facets of literature, culture, and mythology.
