Biography

Mrs. A.Deepa Priyadarsini has been serving as Assistant Professor of English from 2010. She completed her UG and PG in English Literature from Madras Christian College. She was a gold medallist in her PG and was also awarded the Best Outgoing Student award by the department. She has a passionate interest in dramatic literature and has been teaching Elizabethan, American and European drama for the past 15 years. The poetic and literary aspect of dramatic literature is her primary area of interest. Mrs. Deepa is also interested in psychoanalysis and its deep connections to literature, translation studies and wisdom literature. She has also been teaching translation studies for the past fifteen years and is immensely interested in the intersections of language, culture, identity and belief systems.

Research Interests

Psychoanalysis and Literature, Psycholinguistics, Drama (European, American, Indian), Translation Studies, Dystopian Literature and Wisdom Literature.

Presentations

Presented papers in both National and International conferences on topics related to psychoanalysis, translation studies and American and European literature.

Resource Persons

  1. Served as resource person for the Luminaire Lecture Series conducted online by the Dept of English, MCC in 2021 and delivered a lecture on The Relevance of George Orwell’s Animal Farm in Today’s world.
  2. Served as resource person for the Professional Communication Skills Course offered by the Dept of English, MCC from September to October 2022 and taught effective presentation skills to students.
  3. Served as resource person for the Professional Communication Skills Course offered by the Dept of English, MCC from July 2023 to August 2023 and taught effective presentation skills and group discussion skills to students.
  4. Chaired two sessions of In Tandem, the English Department’s Online Research Club of QMC in 2022 and 2023 respectively. One was conducted on Memory Studies and the other on Sahitya Academy award winning stories.
  5. Served as Resource person for a two-day workshop on Writing Research Papers conducted by the Dept of English, Queen Mary’s College in September 2024.
  6. Served as resource person for the FDP conducted by the department of English in April, 2025 and delivered a lecture on Psychoanalytic Literary Criticism.

Administrative Positions

  1. Served as Nodal Officer for IQAC from 2020 to 2023 November.
  2. Serving as Nodal Officer for Non-resident Women students of the Dept of English from 2023.
