Writer’s Café at the Madras Christian College
Writers often do not receive recognition, avenues to discuss their ideas, publicize their publications, or even to discuss with scholars who may be able to contribute to edited volumes that a researcher may envision. However, a ‘Writer’s Café’ at the Madras Christian College would be a venue to put together innovative and creative ideas and bring them out through rigorous intellectual exercises that would result in publications that would cater not only to the academic field but also to fields such as business, communication, cinema, fashion, journalism, politics, economics, society, women, and many other diverse subjects. It is with this intent that the ‘Café’ would serve as a venue for book launches, book proposal discussions, writing competitions, and many more.
Writer’s Café at the Madras Christian College would not only be a venue for faculty and Scholars, but would also be a venue where students of the college and other institutions would be allowed to exchange their ideas that would lead to a publication. Students may also discuss their ideas with interested faculty members and work such ideas towards a publication.
Writer’s Café at the Madras Christian College would not be limited to the faculty and students of the Madras Christian College, but would be a venue for faculty and students from other reputed institutions to engage in such academic and writing exercises.
These initiatives are thought to enhance the academic quality and contribution towards the publication list of both the faculty and students of the Madras Christian College which would subsequently lead to higher grading in various quality and standards assessment that institutions of higher education often participate in.
