Eligibility

[Eligibility for Govt. Aided Undergraduate Courses] 

  • A pass in the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary or equivalent examination.

  • The upper age limit for admission to UG courses will be 21 years as on 1st July 2017. Relaxation of 5 years is permitted for differently abled and 3 years for women students.

  • Candidates from Boards other than Tamil Nadu State Board, CBSE, AISSCE and ISCE must produce Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras. All candidates who pass the Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu State Board by PRIVATE STUDY and private candidates from CBSE or under the OPEN SCHOOL SYSTEM should also produce Eligibility Certificate.

  • The College offers Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sanskrit, German and French for the aided Day Stream Undergraduate courses. A student can opt for any one of these Languages. For Tamil and Hindi the candidate should have studied that subject as a second language at XII and X std. respectively. • Only those students have studied Hindi as a second language till 10th or +2 must-opt Hindi as Part I Language.

  • Applicants for B.A. Economics should have preferably taken Mathematics at the Higher Secondary Examination or other qualifying examinations. 

  • Applicants for B.Com. should have preferably taken a combination of Commerce, Accountancy and Business Maths/Mathematics in the Higher Secondary Examinations or other qualifying examinations.

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry should have preferably taken a combination of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the Higher Secondary examinations.

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Statistics should have preferably taken a combination of Statistics and Mathematics or studied Mathematics at the higher Secondary Examinations or other qualifying examinations.

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology/Zoology should have preferably taken a combination of Biology and Chemistry at the Higher Secondary Examination or other qualifying examinations..

[Eligibility for Govt. Aided Postgraduate Courses]  

  • Minimum eligibility is in accordance with the Madras University/Department (MCC) regulations. Postgraduate courses in Arts and Sciences require a minimum of 50% in the respective subject except for Public Administration, Philosophy, Political Science and Tamil.

  • All graduate with a minimum of 50% of aggregate are eligible for admission in MSW (CD & MP).

  • M.Sc. courses in statistics, Physics & Chemistry require the candidate to have opted for a paper in Mathematics at the Undergraduate level, besides the basic requirement. Zoology and Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology require the candidate to have opted for a paper in Chemistry at the Undergraduate level, besides the basic requirements. 

 

[Eligibility for Undergraduate Courses - Self Financed Stream (SFS)]

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Microbiology should have taken a group with Biology/Botany and Zoology in Higher Secondary Examinations or other qualifying examinations.

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Maths and B.Sc. Physics should have taken the group - Maths, Physics and Chemistry in Higher Secondary examinations or other qualifying examinations.

  • Candidates with a pass in Higher Secondary Examination or any other qualifying examinations are eligible for admission to the following courses: B.A. Journalism, B.S.W., B.Sc. Physical Education, B.Sc. Geography, Tourism & Travel Management and B.Sc. Visual Communication.

 

[Eligibility for Postgraduate Courses - Self Financed Stream (SFS)]

  • All graduates with a minimum of 50% of aggregate are eligible for admission in M.A. Communication.

  • All graduates with a minimum of 50% of aggregate are eligible for admission to MSW (HRM).

  • Graduates in Chemistry with a paper in Maths are eligible for admission in M.Sc. Chemistry.

  • Graduates with specialization in Microbiology/Botany/Zoology/Bio-Chemistry/Nutrition and Dietics/Chemistry are eligible for admission in M.Sc. Applied Microbiology.

  • Graduates in Commerce, Business Management, Business Administration, Bank Management, Corporate Secretaryship, E-Commerce, Computer Science, Information Technology or an Equivalent qualification with Accountancy as one of the subjects are eligible for admission in M.Com. Computer Oriented Business Application.

 

[Eligibility for MCA] 

  • First class in any degree, with Mathematics as main/allied subject or Mathematics as one of the subjects in +2. Admission will be based on TANCET conducted by the Anna University or any other Common Entrance Test recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu. (Only TANCET 2017 score is accepted)  

 

[M.Phil. Courses] 

  • M.Phil. programmes are offered in all the Govt. Aided PG Courses except Social Work. Details of eligibility criteria, entrance test etc. will be updated in the MCC website.

  • In Self Financed Stream, Social Work and Commerce Departments offer M.Phil. programmes.
